North Carolina Public Access Foundation
A non-profit organization working toward keeping public access for all
NCPAF HOME PAGE

The North Carolina Public Access Foundation was formed to identify, protect and enhance access for the general pubic to North Carolina’s array of natural resources.  As property values have risen dramatically over the last few years access points for the public have been converted to private use areas. This has severely diminished or eliminated access to outdoor activities for the public.  The North Carolina Public Access Foundation is working to improve this situation for all.

1.   Acquire property and easements for public access to beaches and waterfront areas in an effort to preserve access for the use of the general public for boating access; ocean, estuary and freshwater fishing piers, boating and pier parking areas, trails and trailhead parking; walk-in trout stream access, beachfront access, hunting land on waterfront property, park land, ponds, lakes, marinas and other public access areas;

2.                  Enhance property and easements of existing public access to beaches and waterfront areas in an effort to preserve access for the use of the general public for boating access; ocean, estuary and freshwater fishing piers, boating and pier parking areas, trails and trailhead parking; walk-in trout stream access, beachfront access, hunting land on waterfront property, park land, ponds, lakes, marinas and other public access areas;

3.                  Endow a trust fund to provide funding for acquisition, maintenance and enhancement of public access properties to provide for beaches and waterfront areas for the use of the general public;

4.                  Place special emphasis on preserving property with access that is in danger of being lost to public use or that can be converted from private use to public use; and,

5.                  Educate the public about the need to acquire property and easements to maintain beaches and waterfront areas for the use of the public through meetings, seminars and other events.
